9pm Update

Phil continues to hold strong.

The night nurse assured Rhonda the increased enzyme count is to be expected and that Phil was fighting all the right battles. He also reminded her that Phil is in the right place to be having a heart attack, "...most people experience the beginning of the heart attack at work/home, and only go to the hospital when the major event occurs." They are hoping he only needs intubation (breathing tube) for another day or so, then they can start working the heart issues more aggressively.

Rhonda was comforted by his words and will rest easier tonight because of them. Let's hope Phil does the same.

  1. Both Rhonda and Phil are so close to our family that each of us kids call them by "Aunt Rhonda" or "Uncle Phil" (of course, not interchangeably). I know that I am not alone when I say they each hold a special part in my heart as tremendously inspiring individuals that I look up to.

What has happened is awful and has no doubt forced all of us to remember how fragile and precious our lives are. It's moments like this that remind us to tell the people we care for how much we love them. Uncle Phil is a courageous man with a passion to overcome any obstacles, either big or small, that come his way. Seeing that allows for me to say the following without a doubt in my mind: he is one hell of a strong person! As everybody continues to lend out their thoughts, I am certain that together, we too can be strong. From the bottom of my heart, my thoughts and prayers go out to Uncle Phil, Aunt Rhonda, Sean, Ashley, and anybody else reading this post, seeking support.

    Fight on, Uncle Phil!

  2. Rhonda & family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. You have so many people at West who care about you and Phil. Each person in our lunch group said a prayer today. It was very powerful. I am so thankful and encouraged by the updates. Stay strong and we will keep on praying for a full speedy recovery.
    Love
